About me
Corporate partner Mark has led our investment funds group since 2004.
Formerly a tax partner, he has more than 25 years’ experience of advising sponsors of and investors in a wide range of funds, including private equity, real estate, venture capital, infrastructure and hedge funds, and has acted on many of the firm’s most high-profile funds mandates.
Mark frequently acts as the client’s contact point, liaising with overseas counsel and other advisers in the structuring phase of transactions, and ensuring that the right questions are asked (and answered) and all issues properly considered. He aims to maintain a sense of perspective and humour in his work, in the hope that all parties emerge feeling that the experience is one worth repeating.
During the course of his career, Mark has been at the forefront of the development of a number of fund-based products. These include the use of Delaware limited partnerships (and subsequently offshore unit trusts) for UK property investment, and UK unauthorised unit trusts and authorised funds in structured capital markets transactions.
He has represented numerous clients looking to establish operations in the UK and advises both on structures to enable business to be commenced without the need for authorisation and on the authorisation process itself. With his investment funds background, Mark is familiar with many of the jurisdictions in which funds are domiciled.
